Sometimes it is quite challenging to work with the 3D view / canvas in order to manage the fixture setup or content remotely. In most of these cases the 3D view cannot be operated by mouse or is not visible.
There are several approaches to get a better working connection:
- The 3D view uses Direct X, so it might help to have the Direct X and graphic card drivers updated on the remote server as well as on the remote client.
- Connect real displays or dummy plugs to the graphic card ports of the remote server.
- If you only need to view some details without changing something, it might work to select the 3D view and use the keyboard. Working keys are
<W>: zoom in
<S>: zoom out
<A>: move left
<D>: move right
<Ctrl>+Arrow keys: move in key direction
- We tried out different remote desktop software and encountered no problems using TightVNC. So probably try out TightVNC* as remote server.
